WANTED: Female Mentors Needed for AS Program

What is Sisters in Science?

  • An afterschool program of the New Britain Youth Museum designed to foster interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) education & careers.
  • Our goal is to eliminate the social, economic and cultural barriers that stand in the way of young female minds in their pursuit of STEM.
  • We offer earlier access to hands-on STEM education and social emotional development to maintain girls’ interests in the sciences.

Who can be a mentor?

  • College students
  • Community professionals
  • Retired STEM & Education professions
  • Background check required
  • No experience needed

Mentors will meet with mentees once a month for:

  • Career and college exploration activities
  • Hands-on STEM activities
  • Homework help
  • Building resource to STEM
  • Empowering and impacting change
  • Create a sisterhood
  • Games, fun and more!
