Summer programming this past year was nothing short of challenging.
Learning how to navigate the “new normal’ in light of the COVID-19 pandemic required programs be more nimble than in past summers. Training staff in up to the minute practices and procedures, while at the same time keeping camp and summer learning experiences that build relationships fun and engaging meant juggling multiple priorities at the same time. As we think of summer 2021, many of these lessons on supporting children and families will be useful. What can summer programs do now to prepare for the summer of 2021? What support do children need as a result of COVID-19 that summer programs are poised to offer?
