Proposed CCDF (Care 4 Kids subsidy) Plan Open for Comment

The Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) Act is the law that authorizes the federal child care subsidy program known as the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF). It is the primary Federal funding source devoted to providing low-income families that are working or participating in education and training with help paying for child care and to improving the quality of care for all children. Connecticut’s subsidy program is Care 4 Kids.

Currently only a tiny percentage of the quality improvement funds in the CCDBG are used to support school-age child care programs. If you think that more of these funds should support school-age, or if you have thoughts about how Care 4 Kids is implemented in Connecticut, we urge you to review the plan on OEC’s website and provide comment either at a public forum or using the online survey tool. You voice, and those of the families you serve, is important! http://www.ct.gov/oec/cwp/view.asp?Q=574712&A=4547

The proposed CCDF plan is now available on the OEC website at www.ct.gov/oec/ccdf2016.
