I’m sure most of you may know the word “crowdfunding”. For those of you who don’t, Wikipedia defines it as “the practice of funding a project or venture by raising monetary contributions from a large number of people, typically via the internet”.
Generally it would be the same as if you did a call tree and asked a bunch of people for money to fund a project, or get supplies, or just things you need for your class or school. EXCEPT…with the internet you can ask 100’s, 1000’s, even more because you fill out your information online. Interested parties see your request and decide if you meet what they want to fund.
Now you won’t always get what you ask for so it is a good idea to start letting people know that you are doing this. The people you tell will tell other people, and so on and so on.
Take a look at these sites that were specifically set up for schools and teachers. I’ve set up the links to send you directly to the information about the website. It would be great if you could comment about your own personal results from these websites. Was it easy to register? Did you get any hits? What did you like or dislike about the site?
