After School Grant Program 2021 Funding

The 2021-23 State Department of Education After-School Grant Program for Grades K-12

Grant Competition Opening Thursday, March 18, 2021

Grant Purpose: To implement or expand high-quality programs outside school hours that offer student’s academic/educational enrichment and recreational activities in Grades K-12 that are designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic program of participating students.

The Request for Proposals can be found on the CT State Department of Education electronic Grants Management System (eGMS). If your organization has applied for funding from SDE previously, then you should use your existing login and password. If your organization has never used the eGMS system before, please use the Request Help button on the lower left hand side of the eGMS home page to request a login id and password.

Proposals must be submitted by 5 pm on Monday, April 19, 2021.

All local education agencies (LEAs), municipalities, not-for-profit and community-based organizations (CBOs), that are exempt from taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, including faith-based organizations and other public or private organizations, a consortium of two or more agencies, organizations, or entities that may include, but are not limited to, local and regional boards of education, and Regional Educational Service Centers (RESCs) applying on behalf of LEA(s) are eligible and encouraged to apply. Charter or magnet schools are also eligible to apply/receive funds from the state under this program.

CSDE will give competitive priority to applications that propose to serve students in low-performing schools and to applications submitted jointly by LEA(s) and public or private community organizations. The grants will be for a two-year period beginning July 1, 2021. Minimum annual grant of $25,000, maximum grant size of $200,000.

There will also be funding set aside especially for small towns with populations under 7,500.
