Hosted by the Maine Afterschool Network, Shannon Coffin and Madelyn Holm from Good Shepherd Food Bank’s Child Hunger Programs Team will walk us through the latest statistics on child hunger in the United States and provide an overview of both the social and economic long term impacts. Learn how to recognize the chronic warning signs of childhood food insecurity, and most importantly, what you can be doing to help end it in your communities.

About the Presenters:
Shannon Coffin is the Child Hunger Programs Manager at Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine where she oversees the BackPack, School Pantry, Kids Cafe and Summer Lunch Program. She has led the Child Hunger Programs team since its inception, and over the past four years, has grown their reach from 40 children in one school to over 3,000 children in 100 schools.
Madelyn Holm is a part of Feeding America’s Child Hunger Corps program, placed with Good Shepherd Food Bank for a two-year service term. Her focus is on expanding Maine’s utilization of the CACFP At Risk program, a federal funding source to supply dinners and snacks through after school programs.
