Summer 2021 must become a summer like no other as we welcome students into our summer programs. We need to be ready to help support kids overall well-being, including their physical and mental health, and social and emotional skills. The Connecticut After School Network is here to support programs that work with kids outside the traditional school day, whether it’s during the summer, after school, or other times.
With new funding for summer programs being provided by the American Rescue Plan, there will be more people than ever working in camps and summer programs, and we are offering a variety of free recorded trainings related to SEL that may be useful for your work this year, especially to help you meet the requirement for two hours of SEL training. There are seven SEL recordings available here:
There will also be an additional 24 hours of recorded trainings for summer 2021 program staff available for free on a whole range of topics appropriate for summer staff with the option of a certificate. Six trainings will be offered weekly for four weeks, starting on May 31, some of which will be SEL related and can be accessed via this website http://sanrebootcamp.org/.
Please note that two trainings, “What is SEL? and “Behavior Management” will be offered as part of the Re-Boot camp with the option of a certificate.
This free training website was prepared with the help of the 50 Statewide Afterschool Networks, it may be useful to you as you begin training your staff or working with children and youth yourself this summer.
Additional free recorded trainings that we become aware of will be linked below. Have one to suggest? Please add it in the comments below.
