Immersion Secrets of the Gulf
Join Immersion as we explore the biology, geology, and archaeology of the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary in the Gulf of Mexico. Hands-on activities will focus on salt domes, coral reefs, brine seeps, and more. Science topics include rocks and minerals, petroleum formation, density, coral biology, food chains and food webs, manta ray biology, marine archaeology, technologies used in ocean exploration, and careers.
The multimedia educator pack for this program includes a print curriculum, a CD containing a PDF version of the curriculum, and a DVD containing corresponding video clips. Each of the eight hands-on activities in the print curriculum includes a reading selection, activity masters, and comprehensive educator notes, including adaptations for younger youth. The curriculum is written at a 6th grade level and can be used with youth in grades 1 through 8.
