Power for Good Program of the Year

The New Program of the Year Award will recognize one afterschool program for quality excellence at our Afterschool Conference “The Power of Afterschool” on November 8th!

So, what do you need to do to get recognized?

First, you and your program staff take the Drive to Quality Pledge. Once you sign up, there are a number of resources and quality improvement tools available to improve your overall program quality. We realize this is a journey and that these may be the first steps into the quality realm.

Second, CTNCY has you covered with the CT-QSAT (quality self-assessment tool), the CT-QSAG (quality standards and guidelines), a CT-QSAT Action Plan, and a CT-QSAT Zooming In Workbook. Important; you will need to submit both the CT-QSAT action plan and the CT-QSAT Zooming-In Workbook as part of your application.

Additionally, we want to see and hear about the process in your program. To do this we are asking for 3-5 photos of quality happening in your program and a brief narrative detailing how staff, families were engaged in the process, and how will your program sustain continuous improvement efforts?

Lastly, programs also must register for Lights on Afterschool (National – Oct 23, 2025) with the Afterschool Alliance.

Research shows that programs that invest in quality improvement efforts have less staff turnover, better social, emotional, and academic outcomes for the children served, and help prevent chronic absenteeism. Take the first step today!

To recap, you must:

  1. Sign the Drive to Quality Pledge (Don’t forget to sign up for all your sites!) and
  2. CT-QSAT Action Plan (pg 24)
  3. CT-QSAT Zooming In Workbook
  4. 3-5 photos of quality happening in your program
  5. Program Narrative detailing: How were staff engaged in the process? How were families engaged in the process? How will your program sustain continuous improvement efforts?
  6. Register for Lights on Afterschool (National – Oct 23, 2025)

Submissions must be received by October 15th.
