JUDGING CRITERIA

The Power for Good Program of the Year Award is sponsored by Power Home Remodeling (PHR). As part of their Circle for Good Campaign, CTNCY was awarded a grant to help programs focus on program quality. The criteria below outlines the required materials and steps afterschool programs need to take to qualify. PHR employees will serve as judges and present the award at our Annual Afterschool Conference on November 8th, 2025, at the Hartford Marriott.

The first step is to take the Drive to Quality Pledge, a voluntary way to encourage and highlight programs’ commitment to provide high-quality services in their communities across Connecticut. This pledge is a seal of approval that recognizes the efforts of individual programs committed to intentionally designed program elements that have been shown to increase academic, social, and emotional success.

Once signed up for the pledge, all documentation of quality improvement efforts must be completed and received by October 15th.  Please read our Rules and Regulations carefully for submission requirements.

Documentation will be judged on:

  1. Completion and submission of;
    • Quality Improvement Planning in a detailed action plan to sustain quality efforts
    • Completed the CT-QSAT Zooming In Workbook and participated in “Working the Tool” Series
    • 3-5 photos of program
    • Program Narrative detailing
      1. How were staff engaged in the process?
      2. How were families engaged in the process?
      3. How will your program sustain continuous improvement efforts?
  2. Lights On Afterschool Registration
