45,000 year old leg bone found

This little story is amazing because it is the OLDEST human bone found.  Granted it was only one femur (leg bone) but it proved invaluable for what its genetics told us.

Found in a river in western Siberia in 2008, it was turned over to paleontologists who believed it to be a few thousand years old.  When they sent the DNA for testing they found a hidden secret in this old bone.  If you’d like to find out what THEY found out you can listen here or read the article here.
